What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a heightened state of suggestibility that we all experience in different forms on a daily basis. Have you ever been deeply engrossed in a book, movie or when you are surfing the web? Have you left work to drive home, and before you know it you're at your destination without remembering the drive?  It is during these periods that our subconscious mind is extremely open and receptive to suggestions coming from our own thoughts or from other people.

During hypnosis, you are not asleep and your mind is quite alert and you are aware of all that is happening around you. Your senses are heightened and you can recall everything that occurs during your hypnotherapy session. You will leave feeling refreshed and alert with a wonderful sense of well-being


The Power of the Mind

The power of the mind, and a person's belief about themselves sometimes makes it almost impossible to change habits or beliefs.  We find ourselves unhappy and stuck, not sure of why we keep experiencing the same thing or act in certain ways.

Most of our behavior occurs beneath our level of awareness prompted by the subconscious mind which makes up 88% of our mind power. It remembers all our past experiences, whether they are bad or good, and it's this familiarity which makes it so hard to make changes or to make them stick.  It is our life script.

The conscious mind, which makes up our logic, reason and will power, and is approximately 12% of our mind power. It is an illusion to think that its our conscious mind which dictates our actions and decisions, when in reality it's our subconscious mind that steers us secretly, since it is much more powerful than the conscious mind.


How does it work?

We are constantly taking in message units through out the day may it be in colors, feelings, emotions, calculations you name it, it goes in the mind until the critical filter can't take anymore and shuts down for a bit to recover. It is a mental escape. When this happens you are in a state of relaxation and your subconscious mind takes over. For example after a stressful day at work you drive home. On this drive you are aware that you are driving even though your mind is drifting away to events or thoughts of the day. When you least expect it you find your self home with no memory of you worrying or thinking about the drive. How did that happen? You were hypnotized. Same thing goes when you go to a movie and your so into it that you jump, get excited, and cry when none of these things really happened to you, but you were hypnotized to experience it.

What are some things that Hypnosis can help with?
